The SEC Slams The Company\u2019s Most Recent Endeavor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u7b80\u8981\u8bf4\u660e<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The SEC has criticized Ripple\u2019s planned stablecoin, yet to be launched, as an \u201cunregistered crypto asset,\u201d continuing the longstanding conflict between the two.<br \/>\nDue to the regulatory challenges in the US the company\u2019s CEO Brad Garlinghouse remains focused on global expansion and establishing XRP\u2019s role in the future financial infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h2><span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/RippleSEC_CB-18.jpg\"><\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2>The SEC Fires Shots at Ripple\u2026 Again<\/h2>\n<p><span>Ripple\u2019s upcoming stablecoin pegged to the American dollar has not yet\u00a0<\/span><span>seen the light of day<\/span><span>, but that seems like no obstacle for the US Securi<\/span><span>ties and Exchange Commission (SEC) to start criticizing it.<\/span><span>\u00a0Court documents\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WKahneman\/status\/1788037268558803264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>shared<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0by numerous X\u00a0<\/span><span>users show that the regulator describes the financial product as a \u201cnew unregistered crypto asset.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Recall that Ripple\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-announces-the-launch-of-a-stablecoin-pegged-to-us-dollar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>revealed<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0its intentions to introduce a stablecoin nearly a month ago, with CEO Brad Garlinghouse arguing it could\u00a0<\/span><span>serve as a bridge between<\/span><span>\u00a0traditional finance and the cryptocurrency sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The exact launch date remains\u00a0<\/span><span>unclear<\/span><span>.<\/span><span>\u00a0Most recently, though, the company\u2019s chief technology officer, David Schwartz,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoelKatz\/status\/1787648135495606715\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>disclosed<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0that there will be some updates in June, such as \u201cannouncing the name.<\/span><span>\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Those following the advancement of<\/span><span>\u00a0the cryptocurrency industry in the past few years must be aware that this is not the first confrontation between America\u2019s securities regulator and Ripple. The entities have been tied in a legal battle since December 2020, when the SEC accused the firm of illegally raising more than $1.3 billion by selling XRP in an unregistered security offering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last month, the lawsuit entered its trial phase with numerous developments, such as filing letters and motions. Earlier this week, the\u00a0<\/span><span>popular<\/span><span>\u00a0American lawyer Jeremy Hogan\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-v-sec-trial-entering-critical-phase-heres-what-you-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>claimed<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0that the spat has moved to a stage with fewer actions where both sides must wait for the judge\u2019s decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>Ripple\u2019s Additional Goals<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>Launching a stablecoin pegged to the value of the greenback is\u00a0<\/span><span>not the only thing<\/span><span>\u00a0on the company\u2019s agenda for the next three years.<\/span><span>\u00a0Not long ago, CEO Garlinghouse\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-in-the-next-three-years-ceo-outlines-roadmap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>named<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0global expansion a top priority:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe are going to keep expanding even though the US market, partly from a regulatory point of view, has been slow to adopt.
