Following this, rapper Iggy Azalea <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/andrew-tate-and-iggy-azalea-accused-of-insider-trading-in-meme-coin-promotions\/\">introduced<\/a> her Mother Iggy (MOTHER) token on the Solana blockchain, quickly surging in value too.<\/p>\n<p>Other celebrities, such as rappers Lil Pump and Soulja Boy and online influencers like Andrew Tate, later <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/andrew-tate-meme-coins-take-over-solana\/\">joined<\/a> the meme coin craze. However, according to many observers, the entry of celebrities into the crypto space often signals a market peak. This is evident from the recent decline in meme coin trading volumes and sharp price drops.<\/p>\n<p>According to CryptoQuant data, meme coin dominance in the altcoin market has significantly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ki_young_ju\/status\/1803477650071015734\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decreased<\/a> since mid-May, continuing to plunge in June.<\/p>\n<h2>Meme Coins Are the Latest Trend with Influencers<\/h2>\n<p>Celebrity <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/top-meme-coins-to-put-on-your-watch-list-in-h2-2024\/\">meme coins<\/a> have emerged as the latest trend in influencer-driven crypto assets. However, as seen in previous bull cycles, these projects have been marred by accusations of retail dumping and scams, underscoring the crypto market\u2019s ongoing struggle with influencer involvement.<\/p>\n<p>Every bull cycle sees celebrities hopping onto the latest crypto trend. Most of these ICOs failed, with studies indicating over 80% were scams.
