It\u2019s not really a new report. It actually came out over a month ago, but we somehow missed it. Nevertheless, we still think it\u2019s a fun Sunday morning read, so here we go.<\/p>\n<p>CoinGecko <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/research\/publications\/top-10-cryptos-2014-to-2026?\">outlined<\/a> that the cryptocurrency market has changed almost beyond recognition since 2014. Hundreds of projects entered and fell out of the spotlight, as former industry heavyweights, such as Peercoin, Namecoin, NXT, Dash, EOS, and Litecoin, all spent years among the top 10 elite before eventually falling out.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the case with Ripple\u2019s XRP, though. The report analyzed annual market-cap snapshots between 2014 and 2026 and found that XRP is the only cryptocurrency (besides Bitcoin) to remain inside the industry\u2019s top 10 every single year. This streak spans 13 consecutive years and, unless there\u2019s a major collapse in 2026, is likely to close its 14th year soon.<\/p>\n<figure aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1443113\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/XRP.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1443113 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/XRP.webp\" alt=\"Ripple (XRP) Inside Top 10 Alts for 13+ Years. Source: CoinGecko<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The asset managed to remain in the top through the painful 2018 bear market, the COVID-19 crash, the Terra collapse, the FTX bankruptcy, and perhaps most impressively, Ripple\u2019s years-long battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. This was particularly threatening as XRP was <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/the-exchanges-that-delisted-xrp-following-the-ripple-sec-lawsuit\/\">delisted<\/a> from countless exchanges after the SEC\u2019s offensive began, and it tumbled hard immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ripple\u2019s token recently celebrated a one-year anniversary since its all-time high of $3.65 was <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-xrp-peaked-at-3-65-exactly-a-year-ago-what-went-wrong\/\">marked<\/a> last July. However, it has dumped by 70% since then.<\/p>\n<h2>Different Crypto Market<\/h2>\n<p>BTC and XRP remaining within the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap for about a decade is among the very few constants. Everything else, the report said, has changed to its core. For example, bitcoin\u2019s market share accounted for roughly 87% in 2014.
