Although Poloniex claimed to have identified the attacker weeks later and offered a $10 million reward, the stolen funds were never returned.<\/p>\n<p>In the latest development, PeckShield, a blockchain investigation company, found that more than half of the stolen funds were moved through Tornado Cash.<\/p>\n<p>More than six months after the hack, the bad actor moved 17.8K ETH \u2013 worth approximately $53.5 million from six different wallets \u2013 to a single address of the controversial coin mixer, Tornado Cash.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PeckShieldAlert?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#PeckShieldAlert<\/a> \u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Poloniex?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#Poloniex<\/a> hacker has already sent a total of 17.8K <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24ETH&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$ETH<\/a> (worth ~$53.5million) to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TornadoCash?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#\u30c8\u30eb\u30cd\u30fc\u30c9\u30ad\u30e3\u30c3\u30b7\u30e5<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gpkIYVA2fZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/gpkIYVA2fZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 PeckShieldAlert (@PeckShieldAlert) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeckShieldAlert\/status\/1790266434809192772?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">May 14, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>The latest transfer of funds comes a week after the hacker moved more than 1,100 ETH in 11 batches of 100 ETH to the sanctioned crypto mixer over a period of two hours.<\/p>\n<p>Poloniex was <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/poloniex-hacked-wallet-drained-of-over-63-million-in-crypto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hacked<\/a> in November 2023 after its private keys were compromised by malicious actors.<\/p>\n<p>The attackers, suspected to be the notorious Lazarus Group associated with the North Korean government, stole around $126 million from the exchange\u2019s hot wallets.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Poloniex <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/crypto-exchange-poloniex-nears-full-restoration-after-125m-exploit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> that its team identified and froze a portion of the assets linked to the hacker\u2019s addresses to prevent additional losses.
