{"id":49405,"date":"2026-07-09T13:40:50","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T13:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptd.in\/russias-largest-private-bank-alfa-bank-to-test-bitcoin-and-crypto-trading\/"},"modified":"2026-07-09T13:40:50","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T13:40:50","slug":"russias-largest-private-bank-alfa-bank-to-test-bitcoin-and-crypto-trading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptd.in\/fr\/russias-largest-private-bank-alfa-bank-to-test-bitcoin-and-crypto-trading\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia\u2019s Largest Private Bank Alfa-Bank To Test Bitcoin and Crypto Trading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/\">Bitcoin Magazine<\/a><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Russias-Largest-Private-Bank-Alfa-Bank-To-Test-Bitcoin-and-Crypto-Trading.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/russias-largest-private-bank-alfa-bank\">Russia\u2019s Largest Private Bank Alfa-Bank To Test Bitcoin and Crypto Trading<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alfa-Bank, Russia\u2019s largest private lender, is preparing to launch its own digital depository and a full slate of crypto services once national regulation takes effect, joining a widening race among Russian banks to capture a market that does not yet legally exist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dmitry Vitman, chief operating officer of Alfa-Bank\u2019s corporate and investment business, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rbc.ru\/quote\/08\/07\/2026\/6a4cad8a9a79472d9bd21c4a?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theblock.co%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> RBC Investments that the bank intends to offer \u201call possible services related to digital currencies\u201d once the relevant legislation comes into force.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFirst and foremost, we plan to create our own digital depository and offer its services to other companies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the framework expected to govern the market, a digital depository would record and store cryptocurrency and digital financial assets, monitor client transactions, and block transfers to addresses not sanctioned by authorities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firms that already hold a depository license would not need a separate license from the Central Bank to operate one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vitman said the market will develop gradually. Retail brokerage will come first, leaning on Russian and international infrastructure, with a possible launch in late 2026 or early 2027 if digital currency legislation enters into force in September 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even so, he cautioned that meaningful liquidity and volume in Russia\u2019s crypto market are unlikely to materialize before late 2027, a timeline that reflects both the untested regulatory machinery and the caution of institutions wary of moving before the rules are final.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bank also wants to build Russian investment instruments on open blockchains capable of attracting foreign investors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s important for Russia to develop its own instruments, otherwise we\u2019ll have nothing to offer,\u201d Vitman said. \u201cWe need to attract investors to our infrastructure, so we need to create products that can compete globally.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A crowded field in Russia<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alfa-Bank is far from alone. T-Technologies Group, which controls T-Bank, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.ru\/en\/news\/2026\/07\/02\/t-bank-pervym-poznakomit-svoix-klientov-s-kriptovaliutami-rabotat-s-cifrovymi-aktivami-xotiat-razresit-k-koncu-goda.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annonc\u00e9e<\/a> plans to launch a digital depository built on the Atomize digital financial asset platform and to sell crypto through its broker, T-Investments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VTB Bank <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/vtb-to-open-russias-first-bank-run-bitcoin\">likewise plans<\/a> to create its own domestic digital depository for storing, recording, and circulating digital assets, including <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/\">Bitcoin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State-owned giant <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/russian-sberbank-plans-crypto-wallet\">Sberbank is moving the fastest<\/a>. The bank will launch a digital depository for storing and accounting crypto by December 1.
