The company said it supports restrictions on access to advanced chips and action against industrial-scale distillation, as well as safety testing for highly capable AI systems.<\/p>\n<p>The Information recently reported that the Trump administration was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/trump-administration-nears-ai-framework-open-source-questions-loom\">finalizing<\/a> a framework for AI companies to voluntarily submit their most advanced models to the government for testing.<\/p>\n<p>But Voorhees was not having it, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ErikVoorhees\/status\/2081956612768452684?s=20\">saying<\/a> that allowing governments to define acceptable AI knowledge could expand beyond its original purpose. In his post, he walked through a hypothetical progression starting from a seemingly reasonable rule against discussing bioweapons, then dangerous weapons generally, then anything contrary to public health and public safety, then anything that undermines financial solvency, and ending with the banning of unapproved encryption and a requirement that AI not obstruct government orders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCivilization must not permit the state to determine what manner of intelligence is \u2018safe,&#8217;\u201d he wrote, adding that only the United States has the cultural character to resist that outcome over time, and if it fails, then \u201cnowhere will it be preserved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JoelKatz\/status\/2081958035791241525?s=20\">replied<\/a> to Voorhees\u2019 post with \u201cYes, this.
